Ghana and India Strengthen Economic Ties as GICC and IACCI Seal Strategic Partnership Agreement

In a significant step toward strengthening economic relations between Ghana and India, the Ghana India Chamber of Commerce (GICC) and the Indo-Africa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IACCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Bharat Global Connect event in Delhi, India. The MoU is aimed at enhancing trade, investment, cultural exchange and business collaboration between the two countries and beyond.

The agreement, signed on June 23, 2026 establishes a strategic framework for cooperation, collaboration, and mutual support in promoting trade, investment, business development, networking, capacity building, and economic cooperation between India, Ghana, and other international markets.

The partnership marks a major milestone in efforts to create stronger commercial linkages between African and Asian businesses, while providing a platform for entrepreneurs and investors to explore new opportunities across diverse sectors of the economy.

Under the terms of the MoU, both organizations will work together to facilitate trade missions, business matchmaking, investment forums, knowledge-sharing initiatives, capacity-building programs, and policy advocacy aimed at improving the business environment and expanding bilateral trade volumes.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, The Chairman of GICC, Mr. David Brian Obro expressed confidence that the partnership would unlock new opportunities for businesses in Ghana, India, and the wider African and Asian regions. They emphasized the need for stronger private-sector collaboration as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth, job creation, technology transfer, and innovation.

The agreement is expected to provide member companies of both chambers with greater access to markets, business intelligence, strategic partnerships, and investment opportunities. It will also serve as a bridge for fostering cross-border collaborations in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, renewable energy, tourism, education, healthcare, and logistics.
